A liberal Virginia Community College Professor talks about every demographic factor except for race while dancing around the issue of why America is so divided, ultimately trying to convince himself that it’s always been so and will always be just so, but no more. He is a fiction writer, after all. As one to another: try doing more research, it will make your plot more believable. People can only suspend disbelief so far before it snaps back like your Creative Writing 101 students’ retainers. America is balkanizing, as things fall apart and the centre cannot hold.
