Marching to Zion – a Critical Film Documentary on Modern Israel

Caveat: This presentation is NOT Christian Identist, but IS a useful tool in incrementally freeing mainstream Christians from Zionism.

By Tom C. Purcell

Over 4,000 years ago, God appeared to Abraham in Mesopotamia and said, “get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee…and I will make of thee a great nation.”

– Genesis 12: 1-2

So to Canaan went Abraham, where he lived with his sons, Isaac and Jacob.  Jacob’s name was changed to ‘Israel’.  A famine in Canaan caused Israel and his 12 sons to travel to Egypt, where they multiplied into a formidable people.  The great power of Egypt subjugated the Israelites for the next 430 years, until Moses led them from bondage, across the Red Sea and into Arabia.  There, at Mount Sinai, the Israelites received the law of God. So the scripture goes.

From this information-packed introduction, the documentary goes on to explain the tribal branches, the division between Northern and Southern Kingdoms, ancient Israel and Judah.  The people of the Southern Kingdom would become known as ‘Jews’, and were later taken captive by the Babylonians, who destroyed the original temple. 70 Years later, the Jews returned and rebuilt the temple in Jerusalem, and continued to be ruled by descendants of David.

We then arrive to the time of Christ, when Judah became known as Judea, during Roman rule.  So, this documentary gives a fair backdrop to who the original Israelites and Jews were before delving into the Zionist angle, and touching on on the very touchy.

Pastor Steven Anderson goes on to explore the Talmud with modern Jewish scholars, and what the Talmud says about Jesus Christ.  Pastor Anderson asks Rabbis and Jewish scholars directly, if they believe that the Jews killed Jesus. Their responses are pricelessly noteworthy.  He asks about the ‘Star of David’, which is actually, the ‘Star of Remphan’.

The film goes on to explore the teachings of St. Augustine, C.I. Scofield and Martin Luther, before further studying the concept of Zion, which was born in 1891 by Theodore Herzl in Russia.  The juiciest parts of the film are, in my opinion, Pastor Anderson’s pursuit of Talmudic beliefs, where the Talmudic branch of Judaism came from, and the chronicle of the Rothschild bloom.

Pastor Anderson does due diligence in the production when it comes to scripture, and he lets Jews speak for their own faith as well as against the Christian faith.  He even asks questions on the meaning of Genesis through Deuteronomy, creation vs. evolution, and circumcision. There is a lot to absorb in this documentary, and requires advanced focus and comprehension skills.  It’s not for the faint of heart, not for the under-educated, and not for the meek of mind.  No matter what faith you hold, this chilling documentary will stir thoughts and emotions.

Without further adieu…Marching to Zion
