What is Jury Nullification?

In reference to no case in particular, nor for any defendants in particular, but just as a general point of law:

Legally, a juror in any case may decide based on their conscience to render a not guilty verdict if they believe that deciding otherwise would be immoral, regardless of the legal technicality of the case. Jurors do NOT have to obey false instructions by a judge or prosecutor to render their verdict based solely on the law. This is the time-honored concept of jury nullification. Jurors cannot be punished for reaching a “wrong” decision (such as acquitting a defendant despite their guilt being proven beyond a reasonable doubt). A defendant who is acquitted cannot be tried again for the same alleged crime in front of another jury. A potential juror may be instructed to only follow the letter of the law, and agree to do so, but still vote their conscience when the time comes to deliver a verdict.

If you are on a jury, vote your conscience! We are supposed to have a government, of, by, and for ‘we the people’, not tyrants in black robes!
