Cassandra or Kassandra, also known as Alexandra, was a Trojan princess in Greek mythology cursed by Apollo to utter prophecies that were true but which no one took seriously. In modern usage her name is employed as a rhetorical device to indicate someone whose accurate prophecies are not believed. She told the Trojans that opening their gate and bringing in that big wooden horse was a bad idea which would lead to their destruction. They laughed and mocked her.
Cassandra’s famous last words are believed to have been “I told ya so”.
